\n “Bel Air Blues” was originally painted in 1998 by the artist J. Buckels, who was known for a realistic style that implemented exaggerated detail to create a dream-like result as if one remembered being in his paintings from one’s own dreams. In this piece the central figure is actually the city of Los Angeles down below as scene from the opulent Olympus-like setting high in the hills of Bel Air. This is hand-signed serigraph on canvas that has been beautifully framed in a dark wood with scrollwork detail, and comes with a certificate of authenticity provided by State Of The Art. Stated measurements include the frame. <\/p>\n

The American Artist Jim Buckels had a deep fascination with fantasy that began in early childhood. Later in life, Buckels’ fascinations and artistic talent won him a scholarship to the University of Northern Iowa, which his adventurous spirit compelled him to interrupt in his sophomore year, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army for a three year stint, including a tour of Vietnam. Returning to civilian life in 1971, Jim Buckels resumed his studies at UNI, earning a bachelor’s degree in art, and began his career as a freelance illustrator, becoming known for his stylized landscapes, inspired by such regional artists as Grant Wood and Thomas Hart Benton, as well as by the primitive dreamscapes of the great French painter, Henri Rousseau.<\/p>\n
