Biography – <\/p>\n

Yamandú Canosa (born 1954) is a painter from Montevideo, Uruguay currently residing in Spain. He explores narrative and language boundaries and draws inspiration from landscape, human relationships, cultural identity, memory, uprooting, and migration. Canosa frequently incorporates mural drawing in his installations and has exhibited his work globally in galleries, contemporary art centers, and museums, including the Reina Sofía Art Center, the Sprengel Museum, the Albuquerque Museum, the Dalí Museum, and the Bass Museum. His work has been featured in numerous collective exhibitions of Spanish art. Notably, in 2011, the Suñol Foundation presented The Tree of Different Fruits, a retrospective of Canosa’s previous two decades of work. He has also participated in the 1st Art Biennial of Montevideo in 2012 and represented Uruguay at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.
