Indigo Blue Vertebra Chairs by Piretti & Ambasz for Castelli

Designed in 1976 by Emilio Ambasz and Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, the Vertebra chairs are a rare example of an ergonomic seating solution. They were the first automatically adjustable office chairs, designed to adapt to the user’s movements. The swivel system allows the seat and backrest to be adjusted with a simple push on the back, providing maximum comfort. These chairs received numerous awards including the ID Award for Excellence of Design in 1977, the SMAU Industrial Design Award in 1979 and the Compasso D’Oro Award in 1981.

On the bottom there is the original engraving, which bears the date 1976.

They are versatile and can be used as both office and dining chairs.

Condition: The chairs are in good condition. The frame is intact and original, and they can be used individually or linked together. They are also stackable. The chairs have the original vintage Harris Tweed fabric upholstery.
