When arriving in class in the morning, the pupil discovered the lesson of the day to be taught, thanks to the educational board hung on the wall by the teacher. Each board was numbered and was part of a series developing a theme. For example geography, history or science with the famous object lessons! In general, the poster consisted of drawings that were at once schematic, figurative and very colorful which captured the attention of schoolchildren … Front / Back: The Village and Springtime.

The poster is in very good vintage condition, some minor creases may be present on the borders. Will be rolled in a tube when shipped.

I love the design of this poster, from the vibrant to colors to the comic-book style artwork. This is not exactly a poster, but rather a smaller rigid board. I purchased it from a thrift store in Culver City, right across the street from Sony pictures; I believe it was likely given to a studio employee and not mass produced, which would make it extremely rare.

Biography –

Yamandú Canosa (born 1954) is a painter from Montevideo, Uruguay currently residing in Spain. He explores narrative and language boundaries and draws inspiration from landscape, human relationships, cultural identity, memory, uprooting, and migration. Canosa frequently incorporates mural drawing in his installations and has exhibited his work globally in galleries, contemporary art centers, and museums, including the Reina Sofía Art Center, the Sprengel Museum, the Albuquerque Museum, the Dalí Museum, and the Bass Museum. His work has been featured in numerous collective exhibitions of Spanish art. Notably, in 2011, the Suñol Foundation presented The Tree of Different Fruits, a retrospective of Canosa’s previous two decades of work. He has also participated in the 1st Art Biennial of Montevideo in 2012 and represented Uruguay at the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.
