Very decorative original French double sided poster from Oge-Hachette, circa 1960s. This vintage wall decoration has wonderful details and would look great in a child’s room. Titled Le Village et Printemps (The Village and Springtime).

When arriving in class in the morning, the pupil discovered the lesson of the day to be taught, thanks to the educational board hung on the wall by the teacher. Each board was numbered and was part of a series developing a theme. For example geography, history or science with the famous object lessons! In general, the poster consisted of drawings that were at once schematic, figurative and very colorful which captured the attention of schoolchildren … Front / Back: The Village and Springtime.

Figures Allonges, 1971

A Henry Moore (1898-1986) Original Lithograph. The name translates to
Elongated Figures or Reclining Figures but is best described as Reclining Nudes.

Given as a wedding gift, the abstract figures evoke languid sexuality even as you have trouble discerning the actual body parts or whether the figure includes one or two individuals.

The lithograph’s beautiful rich golden yellow and soft blue greens soften and highlight the black line drawings. The image measures 11.5 x 8.75 inches.

Henry Moore was a British artist, renowned for his sculptures and drawings. While famous for his powerful drawings of people sheltering in the London Underground during the Blitz, he also is well known for his abstracts both in sculpture and drawing of the reclining human body.

The original gift giver attached a clipping detailing the artist’s career to the back of the lithograph, a copy of which can be seen in the photos and provides more information about the artist. There is also a label from Ferdinand Roten Galleries in Baltimore, Maryland which provides the name of the artist, and the words “For “XXe Siecle: Original Color Lithograph.

The frame is being retained so as to protect the lithograph, but shows significant wear and should likely be replaced with a frame more in keeping with the quality of the art.

Animal Kingdom Insecta antique print featuring butterflies and measuring 5 ¼” x 8 ½”. There is age appropriate wear, including paper toning in accordance with the print’s age.

This antique print is taken from the pages of “The Animal Kingdom” by Baron Georges Cuvier. Cuvier brought his acclaimed insights on the structure of the animal kingdom to the world through his prominent comparisons between natural history and comparative anatomy. Published in London by Whittaker & Co.

A vintage nautical sailboat art illustration from The Little Fisherman by Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnight Moon. Featuring a charming sailboat at sea. In a white 8″x10″ mat, ready to be framed.

This print was taken from a lovely old book that had seen better days. While I could not find a copyright date, it appears to have been first published in 1945. There is some discoloration to the illustration on the lower left, though less noticeable a foot or two away. A brown and white polka dot paper backs and encases the print into the mat.

The art and pattern play creates a vintage modern vibe for child’s bedroom, playroom or nursery.
