Soft yet detailed landscape by prewar Japanese artist K. Seki (Japanese, late 19th Century). This composition depicts houses on the edge of a calm, wide river. The background has a soft, misty quality, whereas the foreground is rich with detail. There are bright, flowering hedges close to the viewer, drawing in the eye towards the unfolding scene.

“The Farm” by M. Peters Really well done oil painting on canvas of a farm with hills in the backdrop. So serene. A perfect addition to any art collection.

An excellent example of E A Wagner’s work, titled “Palio Still Life”. Oil on canvas board. Wagner was active in California, both in San Francisco and South Gate. The title translates as “Horse Race Still Life”, elements associated with horse racing are present here including the winners laurel wreath and an almost imperceptible presence of a jockey behind it. Enchanting details. Canvas size is approximately 22″ x 28″, sight size 21.1″ x 27.1″, framed size 25.75″ x 31.75″ x 1.75″.

This is a very beautifully painted Maine landscape with a brook running through a forest. This is oil painted on a stretched canvas with a texture almost like burlap. This is likely a landscape located somewhere in Maine. It has beautiful movement and light moving through a dark woodland. This is not on its original stretcher, the canvas is not tautly stretched but it isn’t noticeable; this just looks a tiny bit conclave if looking very closely. Condition of the painting itself is very good with very light wear.

The frame is magnificent, and it appears to have been hand carved by an artisan frame maker. Hand carved in a unique style that has elements of the Taos frame style, but, it has a flair of Art Nouveau or Japanese style with delicate and simple organic forms unfolding, sometimes looking like flat leaves, or emerging shoots with a rounded edge. This has some amount of damage and wear, it looks very nice but is worthy of light restoration. The largest issue is a chip out of the little rounded shoot located directly under the signature. This is a large chip, please see the photos for this. There are several places where the guilding or gesso are missing a bit, mostly with little bits that have flaked up and off, there is a remnant of a sticker tag on the upper frame (you can see in the photos if you look closely, left of center a bit), this may damage the finish a bit more if removed incorrectly, but there is a bit of the other damage at this location as well. None of the damage is very bad, but it is there, I think conservation should be left to a professional working selectively as this is something that should retain as much of its original quality as possible. The back of the frame has some text, on lower it appears to read “Carved Met Morris”, there is other information like numbers and other marks but I am not sure if there is a maker’s mark among them. There does appear to be a collection number or other reference number, it appears on both the scant remnant of dust cover and on the frame itself. If you want more detail photos, please contact me.

George Louis Morris was born September 21, 1890 in Portland Maine.

The artist started off his early years as a salesman for his father’s business, but early on learned his love for painting would soon take over his life.

The artist lived most of his life in Portland Maine with his wife Marion (Foster Thorndike) Morris. He loved to paint the New England coast especially the town of Ogunquit Maine. His seascapes always involved crashing waves and moss covered rocks, boats or the Charming New England town of Ogunquit.

His favorite places to paint were Perkins Cove, and The Marginal Way. This is a cliff walk with coastal views, benches and a lighthouse that lead to a hidden cove of boats and docks and fishermen’s shacks.

He exhibited many places along the mid-west and the east coast most notably The
Closson Galleries, Cincinnati, OH and The Ogunquit Museum of Art.

He painted and sold his work in a small studio gallery located on Shore Road in the center of Ogunquit. He died October 2, 1983 in Ogunquit/York, Maine.

MCM oil on masonite painting “Steve and Cliff” by Frank Kleinholz (1901-1987). Signed, titled and dated upper right and presented in a period frame.

This is a portrait of the sons of the owners of a Michigan gallery that represented Kleinholz.

A fabulous vintage Boho original oil painting on canvas. Two white calves on a brilliant green background. Acquired from a Palm Beach estate.

This trio of Fauvist style paintings captures the colors and scenery of the South of France. The variety of colors and size allow these paintings to fit beautifully in any setting. These 20th century paintings are in good condition and signed in the bottom right corner A. Turco. The measurements for each painting is W – 14.25″, H – 12.25″, D – 2″.

PALM BEACH ESTATE FIND!! Original Abstract Modernist plein air painting illegibly signed and dated 1970. Appears to be a dock with a boat in the foreground. The painting itself measures 14.5” x 9.5” within the matte. I’m guessing it is acrylic on artist’s board but we haven’t opened it up to check. Overall measurements are 20” x 15” framed under glass in typical silver gallery frame of the period. Signed and dated lower left. This came from an estate with many listed artists from upstate NY so I’m hoping someone will be able to recognize the signature. Please ask any and all questions prior to offer or purchase.

A very decorative work of art by listed artist, Jo Patch.

Jo Patch born in Opprebais on January 13, 1937. He was active in Belgium primarily although many of his works were exhibited around the world.
He was a student of LEEMANS, and the creator of “Affigraphisme”.
He died in 2016.
