Vintage Design
A very fine mid-19th century Victorian period quality figured burr walnut marquetry inlaid credenza with a beautiful colour and patina. The credenza features a quality burr walnut shaped top with matched burr walnut veneers and an ebonized molded edge above a shaped burr walnut marquetry inlaid frieze. The central door is inlaid with foliate scrolls and is flanked on each side by bow-glazed cabinets outlined with brass ormolu mounts. The large centre door opens to reveal a shelf with a red faded silk-lined interior, while the glazed doors open to reveal two display shelves. The entire piece is raised on a walnut inlaid plinth base with later castors.
